Today’s tutorial is a Love Letter Cushion.
For this cushion you will need some linen 2 rectangles 8″ x 20″ and enough Jumbo Rick Rack to go around, 60 inches, some decorative beads (optional), printable fabric and a 2″ x 2″ scrap for stamp.
First print out your return and address labels with whatever message and color you like. **Color was drained when printed, just sayin’.
Iron on the selected labels to your “envelope” I marked the envelope with invisible ink so they would not catch in the 1/2 inch seam.
Using a spray baste, I added some batting smoothing it over with the ruler or straight edge to avoid bubbles.
I even used scrap batting.
I did a blanket stitch around each label
and linked heart patterns all over the envelope.
If it needs a little “bling” like mine did, go ahead and add some, I added mine after turning it.
With right sides together, measure and pin the Rick Rack, remember we are using a 1/2 inch seam.
Pin in place all the way around and leave an opening for stuffing.
When I got to the corners, I cut the Rick Rack and started with a new piece for neater corners.
Before turning, cut off the ends to avoid bulk in the corners.
Stuff generously with Poly-fil. Closing pillow stitches tell it all! I like to pin the opening closed and stitch that way for more consistent stitches. Use a blending color thread.
So there is your Love Letter cushion. Another option instead of labels would be to use embroidery! I may try that next year. The font I used is called Fiolex Girls, complete with hearts!
Now share them with those you love the most!
