Besides being a great way to learn more about the quilting world as a business, Quilt Market also proved to be a little vacation away from the kids for my husband and myself. And while it could have been more romantic…. it was nice to turn off the “children channel” in the brain. I’ll try to keep it simple with pictures.
We thought the George R. Brown Convention Center looked like a ship, maybe he was a captain or had a nautical background? Turns out he was an engineer as my husband read.
We walked the city streets of Houston.
We found the tunnels too late.
Good food and wine was definitely a highlight and reason to return. (wink, wink)
And what’s a vacation without a museum?

The museum really served as a great place for my hubby to get educated and informed about the art, craft and history of quilitng.
Here we are appreciating the likes of Daysail by Bonnie and Camille practically a household name while my family has been in “Quilt Training” the last few years. 😀
We saw some really cool sewing machines like this embroidery machine.
I tried out all the long arm quilters, my favorite was APQS and my new BFF Connie who I talked to every morning with more questions and needing more practice. Thanks Connie!!
Standing in line for the Fabric Spree (for over 3 hours) was like being in line to see the Beatles reunion concert!
I got my souvenirs!!

Then on our way home I spot Sanibel Island, off the west coast of Florida, another great vacation destination.
